A 3pointer of massive importance for "Dicephalos" who beat Asteras of Tripolis and Dakos (the referee) 1-0 playing with 10 for more than 80 minutes, showing the kind of material this team is made of.
Santos started with the usual formation 4-2-3-1 with Chalkias as the keeper, Lino, Malezas, Contreras and Sznaucner in defence, Garcia and Vitolo in front of them, Ivic on the axis, Cristiano and Vieirinha on the wings and Filomeno at the top.
Before the start of the match PAOK FC honored our ex-player Marcos Antonio who hasn't appeared on pitch for a while due to a serious health problem.
The initial minutes into the match had nothing important as both teams were trying to read the opponents game. The first time Filomeno got the ball received a mild foul, but that was enough to send him out injured. He was replaced by Koutsianikoulis at 11'. This substitution brought changes on the pitch, as Vierinha took position at the edge of the offensive line and Cristiano with Koutsianikoulis covering the wings. Before the offence could synchronize again, an extra strong foul by Bastia on Vieriniha had the latter reacting in an unacceptable manner and consequently being sent off with a red card.
Our first chance came with a free kick just out side Asteras' box by Garcia. The second chance
came again with Garcia passing to Ivic whose header just missed. The half closed with Koutsianikoulis shot being blocked by Anastasopoulos.
The second half started with Koutsia missing another chance after having short-fused the entire defensive line of Asteras, but the third time was lucky for him as he scored the only goal of the match at 52'.
At this point Asteras tried to push forward, but the amazing, once again, Uruguayan Garcia had the answer to Asteras efforts.
The efforts of our players were touching as with fewer men on the pitch never felt pressure and managed to clinch the 3pointer.
